Fayette Juneteenth Celebration 2023

June 14, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Juneteenth Celebration Committee is delighted to host the 23rd annual Juneteenth Celebration in Fayette. The celebration in Fayette is one of the largest in the US, and will cover five days this year, June 14-18. Juneteenth is one of the longest celebrations in the U.S. to help commemorate the freedom of African Americans. The theme for this year is “United We Stand-Rooted in Unity.”  To support this theme, we want to celebrate and  recognize diversity among all of God’s people. There will be a movie night (Oh Freedom After While) to kick off the celebration; Thursday at Paige-Liberty Park will be a free hotdog roast and Juneteenth jeopardy; Friday on the courthouse square will include a gospel fest and readers theater performance from The Voices of Arrow Rock; Saturday is a full day of activities on the courthouse square including free continental breakfast, an opening ceremony, parade to include grand marshals and other parade units, Race Around the Square and Kid’s Market for youth, MO Child Identification Program (MOChip) to support childhood safety, live easy listening music – R&B and jazz, live auction, numerous games, bake sale, food vendors, poster contest for youth, retail and informational booths, and mural dedication at 4:00 p.m. followed by a fireworks display later that evening at Paige-Liberty Park. Sunday will conclude the celebration with a 10:30 a.m. community worship service on the Howard County courthouse square.
