Reception Celebrating Sister Jean Dietrich’s Retirement

After 50 years of service in education, Sister Jean Dietrich will celebrate her retirement from Helias Catholic following the 2022-23 school year!
A member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Sr. Jean has served Helias Catholic High School in a variety of roles including principal, assistant principal and registrar since coming to Jefferson City in 1983, after teaching at schools in Quincy, Illinois, and Highland, Illinois. She holds a master of science education degree from Creighton University and a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the former Notre Dame College in St. Louis.
Sr. Jean’s lifetime of service to the Catholic Church was recognized with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, a papal award also known as the Cross of Honor, conferred by Bishop W. Shawn McKnight during a special Mass at Helias Catholic in October 2021. She was inducted into the Helias Catholic Hall of Fame in 2012.
The Helias Catholic community will celebrate Sr. Jean’s retirement with an open house reception Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the school. Friends, alumni, former colleagues and all members of the Helias Catholic community are invited to congratulate Sr. Jean at a reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the school’s main lobby and administrative hallway, accessible from the main office entrance.
