MU Health Care’s cancer team is taking on the sixth most common cancer with a free head and neck cancer screening event at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.

Why Get Screened?
Head and neck cancer accounts for 4% of all cancers in the U.S. It affects the pink lining of the mouth, nose and throat and is often linked to tobacco and alcohol use, HPV infection and other risk factors. The good news? When caught early, head and neck cancers are highly treatable. A quick, painless screening could save a life.
Who Should Consider a Screening?
- Anyone experiencing symptoms such as a lump or sore that doesn’t heal, persistent sore throat, difficulty swallowing or hoarseness
- Individuals over 50 years old
- Those with a history of tobacco or alcohol use
- Anyone with HPV exposure
